Juan Carlos Arciniegas

Juan Carlos Arciniegas is the co-anchor and correspondent for Showbiz on CNN en Español, the daily show dedicated to the latest stories in the entertainment world.

Arciniegas has established himself as one of the most respected and sought-after TV journalists within the filmmaking industry in Latin America. His approach to Hollywood, and cinema in general, has garnered him the reputation of not only being smart and witty, but also a person whom the celebrities seem to be comfortable with and willing to open up to. Not being star-struck is an element which works in his favor for gaining the respect and trust of the audience.

He has been a producer and the anchor of shows like Escenario and Ojo Crítico, where he would offer his critiques on the latest film productions. Arciniegas has been a special reporter in different occasions for CNN en Español during the Oscars and the Golden Globes. He has also covered important film festivals such as Sundance in Utah, Cannes in France, and Toronto in Canada. Arciniegas has served as a judge for international film festivals in Lima (Perú,) Bogotá and Cartagena (Colombia,) Guadalajara (Mexico,) and Palm Springs (California.). In the last couple of years, Arciniegas has been a moderator for events within the Spanish and Argentinean film series in Hollywood.

Arciniegas has interviewed internationally known artists like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Robert Downey Jr, Meryl Streep, Salma Hayek, Marion Cotillard, Gael García Bernal, Jennifer Aniston, Daniel Craig, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Jennifer López, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sandra Bullock, etc. He has also conducted comprehensive interviews with acclaimed directors as Pedro Almodóvar, Guy Ritchie, Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Luis Mandoki, Alfonso Cuarón, and Juan José Campanella.The complete cast of “The Lord of the Rings,” “Harry Potter” and “Sex and the City” have appeared in special shows produced and hosted by Arciniegas.

Before joining CNN en Español in 1997, Arciniegas worked as an editor for Reuters America Inc., in Miami, Florida. Prior to this he served as a television reporter and international editor for Q.A.P. Noticias in Bogotá, Colombia, covering assignments in the United States and Latin America.

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Arciniegas earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Universidad Javeriana in his native Bogotá. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
