La erupción en Tonga causó estragos en varios países. En Perú, las autoridades registraron el fallecimiento de dos personas que fueron golpeadas por fuertes olas. Esa marea también impactó a una embarcación que transportaba crudo. Unos 6.000 barriles cayeron al mar y el derrame afecta a varias playas de Ventanilla. La cancillería de Perú calificó el hecho como el "peor desastre ecológico ocurrido en Lima en los últimos tiempos". Andy Ortiz tiene los detalles en este informe.
