Más estadounidenses están sobreviviendo al cáncer, según nuevo estudio
El cáncer es uno de los principales problemas de salud pública en el mundo y la segunda causa de muerte en Estados Unidos. Sin embargo, entre 2016 y 2017 se registró la cifra más alta de sobrevivientes de cáncer en el país, ayudando a mantener la tendencia que se ha venido observando desde hace 26 años. Los hallazgos, publicados en una revista académica perteneciente a la Sociedad Americana Contra el Cáncer, indican que esta buena noticia se debe en parte a la drástica disminución de muertes por cáncer de pulmón; avances en la detección temprana; y a una mayor efectividad de los tratamientos.
